A New Month is on its Way

...and with it comes a new book!

It seems like it was just yesterday that I learned about NANOWRIMO and accepted the challenge.  Yet seven months ago tomorrow I sat feverishly typing at my desk, trying my darnedest to get to the 50,000 finish-line!

This week I will physically feel the reward for my victory; a proof copy of my first novel.

This is a big deal for a writer.  This book will more than likely never see the light of day after this, but still, it's my first.  You never forget your first.  It shall sit upon my shelf, possibly next to a fellow blogger who is now penning his 2nd memoir for Harper and Collins.  Who knows, perhaps I'll be next?

As for now, I wait for my book to arrive.  Like a child waiting for Christmas, so will I be like, sitting on my couch, peeking out my curtains as I anxiously await the mailman's arrival on Friday.  How exciting it will be to unwrap and hold in my hands the fruit of my labour.

And with the arrival of my proof, 'Lily of the Valley' will be set in a place of prominence in my house; easily seen by me as a reminder to keep pursuing my dream of being a published author.  As one book temporarily closes, I stretch my fingers, sharpen my pencils, line up my notebooks, and prepare for my next book.  I already have the title and about half of the plan in my brain.  Finally I will have the time to sit down and focus whole-heartily on my next endeavour.  I can hardly wait!

What are the insulating properties of gingerbread? From what I heard about your front door, not too good.. ; j

Anyways... A big ole double thumbs up! : D

Ha ha ha! That's awesome. Good thing I have a little breezeway and another door before the house. Keeps my gingerbread home toasty in the winter and cool in the summer. ;)

Alesa, for some reason the Internet is acting up and not taking my posts on your blog tonight! At any rate, I think your last post was fantastic. Thank you for introducing me to a new, outstanding, musician! I'm absolutely going to be looking up more of her stuff. :)

That's my problem - our cottage has no gingerbread...

Also, awesome cover. And I want to read, lady. We should swap manuscripts.

Ah, mixed tapes! How I miss those days. I still have a box full of old recorded-off-the-radio tapes. I remember the thrill of sitting on my bed, fingers poised and ready to pounce on the record button the moment the intro to a song I like began playing. I also recall the irritation I'd feel every time the dj spoke over part of the song and "ruined" it! Ha ha ha! Wow. I feel old!

Lily - sounds great! We will talk about these things for sure. :)
